Supaul district is an administrative region in northern Bihar, India, with its headquarters in Supaul town. Established on March 14, 1991, after being carved out of Saharsa district, it spans approximately 2,425 square kilometers along the international border with Nepal. The district is deeply rooted in the historical Mithilanchal region and is defined geographically by the Kosi River, which heavily influences its local agriculture and landscape. Home to over 2.2 million people (as of the 2011 census), Supaul is divided into four sub-divisions and is widely known for its vibrant Maithili culture and landmarks like the Koshi Barrage in Birpur.
